Inspire Sierra connects people with disabilities to experienced peer support volunteers who have been living successfully and independently with their disability.

We also partner with the Sierra Challenge Athletics Association, a local disability advocacy group.

Peer Support

The Sierra Challenge Athletic Association strives to reduce barriers facing the disabled community by offering peer support, advocacy, and education.

The Sierra Challenge Athletic Association’s mission is to improve quality of life and to reduce barriers that impede full participation by people of all disabilities in all aspects of society. It encourages the engagement of individuals with disabilities who choose to be active participants in improving choices for themselves and others.

The SCAA was established in 1992 as a 501(3)a and provides multilevel suport to kids and adults with disabilities in the pursuit of fun, fitness, and social justice.

Activities Offered:

  • Wheelchair Basketball: A competitive traveling team with league play

Assistance Offered:

  • Outreach, recruitment, and peer support of participants

  • Loaning of adaptive equipment

  • Sports demonstrations or exhibitions (such as basketball or rugby)

  • Volunteer coaching and events management
